Description
Want a beautiful point? Stretch the top of the foot, not the toes.
This standing foot stretch lengthens the top of the arch and the front of the ankle. Those are the areas that have to open for the foot to point fully, and for that curved line from shin to toe you see in a ballerina's foot.
The detail that makes it work: keep everything in parallel, knees, hips and shoulders, and push the back knee forward. You want the stretch in the top of the arch. If you only feel it in your toes, you're bending the toes rather than the foot, and that's the part I'd adjust first.
Hold for 60 seconds with long, steady breathing and go a little deeper with each breath out. No bouncing.
Hold onto a barre or wall for balance. It's in the 30 Min Foot & Ankle Flexibility Class on our channel.
