Description
Arches feel tight? Sit on your feet.
The double foot stretch lengthens the top of both feet and the front of both ankles at once, using your own body weight. As you roll back and draw your knees up towards you, the stretch moves into the instep.
Why it matters for ballet: a full point needs the front of the ankle and the top of the foot to lengthen. This is one of the simplest ways to work on that range for both feet together. Aim for the stretch in the top of the foot. If you're only feeling it in your toes, ease back a little until it moves higher.
If you don't have the range yet, place your hands behind you on a sofa or a sturdy chair, fingers facing forward, so you can control how much weight goes into your feet.
It's in the 30 Min Foot & Ankle Flexibility Class on our channel.
