J&S š 1391 š Gillettes š Same Identical Thing & 24 Hours A Day š 1967 š https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/auction/soul-auction/soul-auction-ending-next-wednesday/gillettes-same-identical-thing-24-hours-a-day-js-1391 Description A Stafford Top Of The World favourite that is again hard on the comeback trail, plays and value are on the rise. As DJ's trigger its undeniable dancefloor power once again. A record that has been bubbling under Northern Soul dancefloor-explosion for decades now, after those heady days of "Stafford" it's a record I keep coming back to as its addictive pomposity cannot be ignored. A lot of DJ's chasing this one for obvious reasons, it carries all those ingredients that easily travels through all the provincial events, onto weekender greatness. All that ever been missing is enough copies to ignite a "Mexican Wave" of appreciation. "Catch That Teardrop" 5 Royales was struggling to go nationwide until 25 copies emerged from the "Oakland Find", then as it entered more DJ sets it exploded into one of the biggest dancefloor favourites of the century. On the other hand "The Gillettes" has availability has been limited to just an occasional sighting, but this 45 is saturated in those qualities that transform a record from a "local" spin into a countrywide monster. Transitional Doo-Wop to Soul most likely directed by the great Horace Ott, infectious, narcotic Northern Soul that you just can't ignore. Another Stafford era slab of "alternative" Northern Soul perched perfectly for a Northern Soul renaissance.. You were tipped off over a year .Now you know it's back with a bang! . Two clean labels unblemished vinyl revealing only tape merest sleeve storage hairline under direct light. Plays perfect.
