Promo'd December 3rd 1965 - by the Christmas 1965 The Twisted Wheel crowd were jumpin' to the infection rhythms of Don Covay's finest Soul dancer.
Memphis to Manchester, a Twisted Wheel anthem in by far its most desirable and rarest form, the gorgeous 1965 yellow demo with the Decca 257 running time neatly rubberstamped on the a-side label.
An essential piece in the "Wheel" rich tapestry of soul dance music. A "Wheel" fandom collectors trophy for those of you many faithful to "Twisted Wheel" true anthems and those serious about harvesting the beyond-rare British Soul DEMO 45s in tip-top condition.
An instant dance tune, so very classic it makes the memory ache for those wonder-years to return. So magical it hurts, Memphis horns, Steve Cropper guitar picks, heavy duty Al Jackson percussion drive this relentless stomper for Don's gravel coated voice, bellowing out the ups and downs of a love affair, that he likens to a Seesaw. A record that hit the top 5 on the USA R&B Billboard charts, triggering an album release.
An inspired inventive production that replaces the obligatory vocal-group chorus with an uncredited weird but affective gargling vocal from the "Goodtimers" answering the Don's hook-lines.
Brilliantly uncomplicated, mid-sixties distilled Soul music at it most motivational!
PS condition is impeccable it's a flawless yellow demo, too.
