The deliciously intimidating vocal of Mabel Louise Smith, which the music industry was sadly deprived of when she passed away at the tender age of 48. But not without leaving a lasting recording legacy, making some of the most potent sister R&B recordings ever committed to vinyl. Her relentless NS stomper "Quittin' Time" coupled with her finest NS moment "I Can't Wait Any Longer" being her best-loved Northern Soul spin.
A recording that started life as a flipside, before Northern Soul pioneers promoted it in the late 60s allniters, triggering this release to be supported on this disc as a flipside. Both sides are now of course guaranteed "floorfillers"... there is no escape from her vocal intimidation, as she drags you onto your feet and onto the floor, and vocally lifts you into Northern Soul paradise... Her two most sought-after recordings back to back, beautifully presented here as the seldom seen 8th March 1968 Direction promo in fine clean mint minus condition, a thing of beauty!
