Venton Caldwell's Philadelphia imprint that has given up so many wondrous recordings through the years. Boasting such notable soul artists as Bobby Parker, Herb Johnson, Bobby Bennett, Ruby Johnson, Big Al Downing, Billy Harner etc.
This snarling R&B steamer by Jimmy Dee and his Universals is one of Caldwell's greatest releases. Jimmy (James Dudley) rasping vocal attack is brilliantly bolstered by a belligerent saxophonist, wielding his sax to scythe through the session that Jimmy's rasping vocal is ripping into.
Imposing R&B, an inspirational spin for Sean Hampsey in 1982 at Bradford Queens Hall, been around along a while as this Jimmy Dee, we notice it made a more recent appearance at the Melbourne, Australia weekender after many years of faithful European support for Jimmy Dee and his Universals. Its reputation steadily grows as the availability shrinks, here's a fabulous mint minus copy to meet the current growth in demand. A wicked full blown R&B dancer, awaiting a real R&B DJ.
