Description
We're finishing up our four-part Sculpin Series with a classic streamer, the Muddler Minnow!
Originally designed to imitate a sculpin, this pattern uses a spun deer hair head to create a wide, bulky profile, along with some uniquely tied turkey feathers for the tail and wing.
But unlike the other three sculpin patterns we've tied this month, this version doesn't have any added weight.
In fact, that deer hair head can make the fly somewhat buoyant. The one I'm tying today actually wants to rise toward the surface!
That gives us a completely different way to present a sculpin imitation, especially when fishing it behind a weighted fly or using split shot to help get it down.
I'll be showing you how to tie this classic pattern in Thursday's full tutorial.
Follow along as we finish up our Sculpin Series!
