Don't Make This Articulated Streamer Mistake

McFly Angler Guide 17 days ago

Description

When tying articulated streamers like the Sculpzilla, there's one small detail worth paying attention to.

On this fly, the two sections of this fly are connected using 70-pound backing. That backing provides the strength needed to hold everything together when fighting a fish.

But we also have a rabbit strip running across both sections.

If we pull that rabbit strip too tightly, it can end up carrying the tension instead of the backing.

So when securing the rabbit over the front section, I leave just a little slack in the hide.
That way, the backing carries the load while the rabbit is free to move with the articulated rear section.

It's a simple little adjustment that helps make a stronger, more reliable streamer.
The complete Sculpzilla tying tutorial comes Thursday!
