About this video: This video shows you how to move Steam games to another hard drive. Steam has changed this process a bit from the last time we covered it, so in this guide, we walk you through the updated way to transfer your Steam games from one drive to another using the Storage settings built into Steam.
First things first, open Steam on your computer. Once Steam is open, click “Steam” in the top left corner and select “Settings”. This will open the main Steam settings menu where you can change different options for your account, downloads, storage, and more.
From there, go to the “Storage” tab. This is where Steam now manages your game libraries and installed games. At the top, you will see a dropdown showing your current drive. Click that dropdown, and from here, you can add another drive. This will let you create a Steam library folder on the hard drive or SSD you want to move your games to.
After that, select your current drive again. This is the drive where the games you want to move are already installed. Once you select it, Steam will show you the games installed on that drive. Check the boxes next to the games you want to transfer to your other hard drive.
Next, click the “Move” button. Steam will ask where you want to move the selected games. Choose the new drive you added, confirm the move, and Steam will start transferring those games over. How long this takes will depend on the size of the games and the speed of your drives.
With that, you now know how to move Steam games to another hard drive using the updated Steam storage menu. If you have any questions, let us know in the comments. We’ll try our best to help.
