About this video:The "No Internet Connection" error in Steam can be one of the most frustrating issues to run into, especially when you know your internet is working perfectly fine everywhere else. This video troubleshoots the most common solutions to fix the no internet connection error in Steam so that you can get back online and back into your games.
First things first, the fastest fix is often just force quitting and restarting Steam. A simple app restart is usually all it takes to reestablish a connection. Right-click the Steam icon in your system tray in the bottom right corner of your Windows taskbar and click "Exit Steam". If that doesn't do it, open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, find any Steam processes, and click "End Task". Then relaunch Steam from your desktop or Start menu.
If Steam still won't connect, the next step is clearing the download cache. Corrupted temporary files will often stop Steam from authenticating with the network. Open Steam, click the "Steam" logo in the top-left corner, and select "Settings". Navigate to the "Downloads" tab, click "Clear Download Cache", and confirm. Steam will restart and prompt you to log back in.
From there, if you're still stuck, try running Steam as an administrator. Sometimes system permissions block Steam from accessing your network. Close Steam completely, locate your Steam shortcut or the steam.exe file, right-click it, and choose "Run as administrator". If that fixes things, you can make it permanent by right-clicking the icon, selecting "Properties", going to the "Compatibility" tab, and checking the "Run this program as an administrator" box.
Next, it's worth checking that the issue isn't on Steam's end. Occasionally the servers are down for maintenance or experiencing an outage. You can verify this by checking the Steam Status website. If the servers are down, you simply need to wait it out.
Finally, if none of the above have worked, your security software may be silently blocking Steam's connection. Go to your Windows search bar and type "Allow an app through Windows Firewall". Make sure both the "Private" and "Public" boxes are checked for Steam. If you're using a third-party antivirus or a VPN, try pausing them temporarily to see if Steam connects.
With that, you should now be able to fix the no internet connection error in Steam. If none of these solutions worked for you and you found a different fix, share it in the comments so we can check it out and help others too. Otherwise, be sure to give the video a thumbs up and subscribe if we did help you out. Thanks in advance!
