Description
An epic, long day of railfanning with many miles put on the car! We chase 3 different trains across 2 different railroads (Escanaba & Lake Superior and Canadian National) spanning the Wisconsin and Michigan borders.
🚂 THE FULL STORY:
We begin our day in Beecher, WI where Escanaba & Lake Superior ELS 400 and ELS 600 were tied down the night before. They wasted no time departing toward Michigan with a good load of pulpwood, empty centerbeams, and gondolas for Alter Metal. After switching the recycling yard, the train headed into downtown Iron Mountain where Seth the conductor was waiting to flag the train across the fire station railroad crossing.
I caught it just north of US-2 Highway before heading back south to Wisconsin, where ELS 1221 and ELS 1224 were arriving into Pembine. But first, we caught a Canadian National (CN) train with an SD60 pulling out all the freight E&LS left the previous day near the defect detector heading east from town.
ELS 1221 and 1224 switched Pembine for a short time, also getting authority to work on the CN mainline to retrieve some left cars. Afterwards, this train crew took all the cars to Beecher and left back toward Crivitz with just two centerbeams and two tankers of propane for Lakes Gas.
To end the video, we made a quick drive back north to Sagola to catch ELS 600 leading ELS 400 on a power move back to Channing.
