Description
This video takes us through the most surprising and striking sights of Lanzarote during its rare late‑winter blossom of 2026. The usually barren south — a landscape of endless lava fields and relatively young volcanoes in deep red and brown tones — becomes draped in green, yellow, orange, and purple bouquets.
We begin by heading north along the LZ‑2, then turn west onto LZ‑704 to explore the Pico Redondo area. From there, we continue north on LZ‑705 toward the Timanfaya volcanoes, where vivid greens contrast dramatically with black and red volcanic slopes. After a brief stop at El Golfo, we return south and pause at a viewpoint overlooking the Salinas de Janubio, framed by a curtain of colorful wildflowers.
Our journey concludes with a hike up Montaña Roja in Playa Blanca, where blossoms dot the red volcanic landscape as the sun sets.
Winter 2026 brought unusually heavy rainfall to Lanzarote, transforming the island in a way rarely seen. By February, vast stretches of its typically harsh, desert‑like terrain had turned vibrant green, dotted with yellows and purples from the seasonal bloom.
