After months of unprecedented rain, the Canary Island of Lanzarote has undergone a transformation few have ever witnessed — its volcanic deserts have turned shimmering with green.
This video follows my hikes from the island’s northern cliffs to its southern plains, capturing a rare moment when grasses, blossoms, and color carpets reclaim the usually ochre landscape.
What is normally a world of black lava and sand has erupted into life, as storms and record precipitation turned valleys, volcanoes, and open fields into unexpected gardens.
Join me on this north‑to‑south passage through Lanzarote’s once‑in‑a‑generation bloom — a fleeting reminder of how dramatically nature can rewrite even the most familiar terrain.
