Video 5 – Painting Creases, Adding Depth and Perfecting Baby's Skin Tones
In this fifth video of our silicone baby painting series, we're continuing to bring little Molly to life, concentrating on adding depth and definition to all those lovely little creases, wrinkles and folds.
I'll show you how I mix and apply a soft plum shade to create natural-looking creases without leaving harsh lines, working around the face, ears, hands, feet and all those little areas that help make a silicone baby look so realistic.
We'll also be doing a little colour correction! Molly was looking rather pale and blue, so I'll explain how I use yellow ochre and a very delicate magenta wash to bring some warmth back into her skin. It's a lovely opportunity to talk about colour theory and how we can adjust our painting as we go along, rather than simply following a set recipe.
As always, it's about building up subtle layers, standing back to assess our work and learning to trust our eyes.
