After months of treatment in Amman, Jordan, three young Palestinians — Eman, Abdelhadi and Bashir — returned home to Gaza. They came home to a place where the health system had been devastated and will not be able to support their ongoing care. Medical evacuations remain a lifeline for thousands of people in Gaza who cannot access the care they need, but Israeli authorities only approve a small fraction of requests for medical evacuation, with no explanation for denials.
