Aerial views of Ituri province, DR Congo: Epicenter of the Ebola outbreak

Description

Ituri province is the epicenter of a severe outbreak of the Bundibugyo virus causing Ebola disease in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Drone footage was taken in July and August 2026 in areas of Ituri where Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is responding to the outbreak. Ituri continues to see active transmission of Ebola disease, which has since spread to six other provinces.

The Bundibugyo virus to date has no approved vaccine or treatment. As of September 30, there were more than 8,200 people with confirmed cases, 4,000 reported deaths, and 2,000 survivors.
