Hope looks like this: celebrations breaking out at an Ebola treatment facility run by Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Mongbwalu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). For the first time since the outbreak was declared in May, the center had no confirmed cases in beds after the last confirmed patients were discharged, fully recovered.
However, the outbreak is far from over and continues to spread — the number of cases in DRC now exceeds 10,000.
MSF teams remain committed and are working around the clock in the country, partnering with communities to help end the outbreak.
