What are some groups of people that break our common understanding of race and ethnicity? Human beings are all individuals with our thoughts, feelings, history, attitudes and genetic makeup, however humans also organize themselves into groups along these dividing lines, with terms like race or ethnicity being social constructs used to categorize people by their aforementioned traits. These categorizations can be quite difficult to accurately demarcate as there is a significant degree of genetic, cultural and societal overlap between many different groups of people. Historic and modern migrations have had a major impact on people groups all around the world as often very distinct peoples interact, intermix and diverge from one another to become the different races and ethnic groups we see today. In today's video I'll be discussing some unique groups of people that defy our traditional ethnic and racial identities and show that our species is far more complicated than most people give credit for.
