Troy Jackson told Susan Collins to “shut up” on the Maine Senate debate stage — then admitted the one thing he swore wasn’t true: his campaign is taking money from billionaires. 💸
Two nights earlier, Jackson said on camera, “I know that there’s no billionaires funding me,” and promised to release his FEC report the next morning. He didn’t. Then in the fourth and final debate, Collins pressed him on it and he answered: “As far as the billionaires that I might have on my campaign… that is accurate.” The crowd in Bangor reacted out loud. 😳 His campaign website still says he isn’t backed by billionaire donors.
That wasn’t the only problem. Jackson rolled his eyes at Collins, burped into the mic, and confused Medicare and Medicaid for the second time in four debates — Collins had to explain on stage that Medicare covers older adults and people with disabilities, not maternity care. 🏥 A heckler shouting about AI data centers and Maine’s water set off the “shut up” moment in the first place.
