🚨 Democrat Convention EMPTY in Key Swing State 🚨
Michigan's Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel refused to attend her own party's nominating convention — and the reason she gave was safety.
In this analysis, I break down what Nessel actually said about antisemitism inside the Democratic Party, why she says the party's own standard on bigotry has one exception, and how that connects to the Michigan Senate race between Abdul El-Sayed and Mike Rogers. Along the way: the March attack at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, El-Sayed's "hurt people hurt people" remark and his refusal to disavow streamer Hasan Piker, a rabbi who usually votes Democrat explaining why he's backing the Republican, and what a half-empty convention hall tells us about Democratic enthusiasm weeks out from the 2026 midterms.
My thesis: this isn't hypocrisy. Deference inside the Democratic Party functions as a currency — spent on constituencies it's afraid of losing, withheld from constituencies it believes it already owns. That's not a contradiction. It's a pricing model.
With the Senate at 53-47, Michigan is one of the seats that decides control — and with it, the direction of tax policy, federal spending, and confirmations for the next two years.
