Description
In Bleach one of the most RIDICULOUSLY powerful members of Squad Zero is Ichibē Hyōsube, because this dude doesn’t just have a strong Zanpakutō, he basically has authority over the very CONCEPT OF NAMES, which in Bleach matters way more than it sounds because if Ichibē takes your name away, he can also take away the POWER attached to it. Ichibē is the massive bald monk who serves as the leader of the Royal Guard, usually wearing these huge prayer beads around his neck with thick black facial hair and this almost permanently cheerful expression that makes him seem pretty friendly until you realize this dude can erase your entire identity with a PAINTBRUSH. He’s known as the MONK WHO CALLS THE REAL NAME, and the reason that title is so important is because Ichibē is the person responsible for NAMING a ridiculous amount of things throughout Soul Society in the first place, including the terms Zanpakutō, Shikai and Bankai, so when Renji arrives at the Royal Palace thinking he already knows everything about his own sword, Ichibē is literally the guy who can look at him and say NOPE, Zabimaru never told you its full name. But obviously his real power comes from his Zanpakutō ICHIMONJI, which already looks strange because instead of a normal sword it resembles a giant CALLIGRAPHY BRUSH, and once Ichibē releases it the blade turns into this huge brush dripping with BLACK INK.
