Can you model this mechanical component in Onshape from a 2D engineering drawing?
🔥 **ONshape CAD Challenge 1.14**
In this tutorial, we will convert a 2D engineering drawing into a complete 3D CAD model using Onshape.
The component consists of a rectangular base plate with rounded corners, four mounting holes, and a central vertical plate with an additional hole.
One of the main highlights of this exercise is learning how to use the **Hole feature in Onshape** to create accurately positioned holes instead of relying only on the traditional sketch-and-extrude-removal method.
🔧 **WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:**
✅ Interpreting top, front, right-side and isometric views
✅ Creating a 300 × 175 mm rectangular base
✅ Applying 20 mm corner fillets
✅ Extruding the base plate to a thickness of 10 mm
✅ Using the Hole feature in Onshape
✅ Positioning four mounting holes using sketch points
✅ Creating a central vertical plate
✅ Applying a 3D fillet to the vertical plate
✅ Creating a Ø25 mm hole in the vertical plate
✅ Using dimensions to position sketch geometry accurately
✅ Checking the final model using the Measure tool
📐 **FINAL VOLUME:**
581,662 mm³ (rounded to the nearest whole number)
