説明

Whip died on May 14. Nagasaki Bio Park and Aso Farmland have not even had the courtesy to mention his death and to honour this wonderful capybara who gave his life for them. After his cruel move to Aso, at Aso Whip could not cope with the noise, the crowds and the strange creatures of species he had never encountered before. Everything frightened him and the stress became unbearable. Whip was a wonderful, gentle and gentlemanly capybara. He did not deserve to be treated so cruelly. When I first arrived at Aso, 3 months after their heartbreaking and needless move, Whip was so pleased to see me, he thought I had come to rescue him. We tried so hard to persuade Nagasaki Bio Park to let us buy the capybaras. We found a place for them at an Animal Sanctuary in Chiba, where they would have had the most wonderful life, eating grass all day, in a huge field. At Aso there was no escape, no place he could go to get away from all this unbearable stress. At Nagasaki Bio Park the original creator of the capybara enclosure, in 1985, understood animals and cared about the welfare of the capybaras. He created many places the capybaras could escape to to get away from the visitors. The present management of Nagasaki Bio Park would never have created a wonderful enclosure like this. For the current management all this space would be considered a waste of space and the last thing they would want was for the capybaras to be able to get away from the visitors. The present management created Aso farmland – a concrete prison with many different species crowded together, and nowhere the capybaras could go to escape the crowds, the noise and the stress. Whip was a large capybara and needed a lot of food. At Aso, in order to get enough to eat he had to face the crowds and beg for food, but this created so much stress for this wonderful capybara. Whip, Donut, Syrup and Ryosuke were cruelly and completely unnecessarily moved from their home, their herd and their family at Nagasaki Bio Park. The management ignorantly blamed these neutered capybaras for the reason the Bio Park had not had babies for 5 years. Please read my blog: "4. Cruel Treatment of Capybaras at Nagasaki Bio Park". This blog explains the background and reasons why these capybaras – the cruelty and ignorance of the management of Nagasaki Bio Park. I explained to the management why these 4 capybaras were not the reason they have not had babies and therefore should not be moved. But they refuse to listen to me and these 4 innocent capybaras were trapped in the most horrible way and sent to this horrific concrete prison at Aso farmland. Of course I was right.

My original Omnibus book is: I have written a book all about capybaras: "My Life with Capybaras. What Capybaras Have Taught Me"

My book gives more information about capybaras than other books written about this fascinating species. With captivating stories about the capybaras I have spent my life with.

There are lots and lots of photos and links to videos showing and explaining the behaviours and relationships I write about, the many interesting vocalisations/sounds capybaras make. These capybara behaviours are interesting, clever and often amusing

All my books are available from Amazon as a paperback or an e-book.
