I was not at Nagasaki Bio Park when Donguri died. When I arrived 4 months later there were still days when Momiji seemed to be grieving for the loss of her mother, Donguri. She would go to the place where Donguri had spent the last month her life as she grew weaker and weaker, with Momiji by her side, and stand there seemingly straining to hear, smell or feel some sign that Donguri was still alive. Perhaps she had been taken to an enclosure in a different area of the Bio Park. It would be quite reasonable for Momiji to assume this. Momiji would climb the hill on the outer edge of the capybara enclosure and standing high up this vantage point she seemed to be straining for a sign that her mother was still alive.
