Description
A back carry that starts off-centre, on purpose. The Twisted Pirate is a rucksack-based carry with a second layer, shown slowly so you can actually see what happens.

There's no talking in this video, so you can watch it with the sound off. The step cards show what happens:
- Find the off-centre middle marker
- Bring your child onto your back with a deep seat, knee to knee
- Tighten both shoulders strand by strand
- Spread, and make the flip with the bottom rail under the other fabric
- Take the tail across and around, over your child's back and back across
- Finish with a slipknot in front
This is an intermediate back carry. If getting your child onto your back still feels new, a simpler back carry first will make this one easier. The flip happens close to the body in about half a second, so I've added a close-up of it.
✅ Always check: close enough to kiss, chin off the chest, face in view, knees higher than the bum, back supported.
Try this: flip the fabric the other way and notice what the change in tension does for you.
🧵 Wrap used: Vatanai.
