They say you should never meet your heroes, it's the same for landscape photography locations too.
After years of planning, I finally visit the Angel Oak in Charleston but from a landscape photographers perspective it's a crushing disappointment.
Nursing some pretty sour hangovers, Amanda and I start the day in Savannah on the hunt for a proper coffee. It takes two attempts but we finally find the latte of the gods.
After suitable competence juice we head to Wormsloe Historic Park to photograph the tree tunnel and I finally get some good use out of my Sony 100-400mm telephoto lens.
We meet up with Jason Tucker for some landscape photography shenanigans where he gets deep down in the 'chiggers' and reminds me that I once drowned his crappy Pentax camera. To be honest I reckon I did him a favour.
Will I be able to photograph the most spectacular tree in the world through a hideous fence and why is Jason standing so funny? What does Amanda get for her birthday and is that gold-plated meat?
There's really only one way to find out.
