I tested the Geras HeatGuard Pro Pizza Oven for Grill by placing it directly on my charcoal grill and making two homemade pizzas. This grill-top pizza oven uses a ceramic pizza stone and a heat-retaining design to turn an existing grill into a convenient way to make pizza outdoors.

Real-World Use
For this review, I placed the Geras HeatGuard Pro Pizza Oven directly on my charcoal grill and made two pizzas with it.

The concept is pretty simple. Instead of buying a completely separate outdoor pizza oven, this sits on top of a compatible grill and uses the grill as its heat source.

Inside is a ceramic pizza stone that heats underneath the pizza. The stone is designed to distribute heat across the crust while absorbing moisture from the dough, helping create a crispier bottom while the enclosed oven retains heat around the rest of the pizza.

I made two homemade pizzas during my test, which gave me a chance to see how the oven worked with my charcoal grill and how the pizzas cooked on the included stone.

The kit also includes an aluminum pizza peel, which makes it easier to move the pizza in and out of the oven. There's also a recipe booklet for anyone who wants some guidance when getting started.

Although I used mine with charcoal, the HeatGuard Pro is designed to work with several grill types, including gas, pellet, wood, and charcoal grills.

I like the idea of being able to use a grill I already own for homemade pizza. If you have a charcoal grill and want another way to use it beyond traditional grilling, the Geras HeatGuard Pro Pizza Oven is definitely worth checking out.
