Real-World Use
For this review, I wanted to see just how convenient the hOmeLabs Countertop Ice Maker could be when I needed ice without waiting for traditional ice trays to freeze.
The biggest selling point is speed. After adding water and starting the machine, it can produce a batch of 9 bullet-shaped ice cubes in as little as 6 minutes. That means instead of remembering to fill ice trays hours ahead of time, you can start making fresh ice when you actually need it.
I also like having the option between two different ice sizes. You can select smaller or larger bullet-shaped cubes depending on what you're using them for.
The machine can produce up to 26 pounds of ice over 24 hours, so even though it's relatively compact, it has plenty of production capacity for everyday use, parties, BBQs, or keeping drinks cold throughout the day.
Another thing I appreciate is how straightforward the controls are. The machine lets you know when it needs more water and when the ice basket is full, so there's not much guesswork involved.
It also has an automatic self-cleaning mode, which makes maintaining the machine much easier between uses.
At approximately 9 inches wide, the compact footprint is another advantage. It doesn't require a huge amount of counter space, making it a practical option for kitchens, home bars, RVs, dorms, or anywhere you don't have a built-in ice maker.
You also get an ice scoop and five reusable ice bags, so you can transfer batches into your freezer if you want to build up a larger supply.
Overall, if you regularly run out of ice or simply want the convenience of making fresh ice on demand, the hOmeLabs Countertop Ice Maker is a compact option that can start producing ice in just minutes.
