Description
Today’s topic is motivation — from the puppy’s perspective, not ours.
The grooming tub is just the example. What we’re actually watching is why some dogs move toward a behavior easily and others stall, even when the dog is athletic and capable. You’ll see four puppies and two adult dogs: two puppies make it look simple, two have a hard time getting in efficiently, one adult loads without hesitation, and one adult still struggles.
We work reward-based, using a targeting stick and a lick mat as the base rewards. This is a short, clear look at the factors that actually drive (or block) motivation in young dogs, plus practical options when a puppy gets stuck on a simple behavior.
