Labrador Retriever Wheelchair Training | Empathy & Proactive Skill Development

Stonnie Dennis Video Yesterday

Description

In this session, Stonnie introduces Brooke, a 10-month-old Labrador Retriever, and works simultaneously on two goals: getting Brooke comfortable walking beside a wheelchair, and helping a visiting couple build their amateur dog training skills.

Regina (seated in a wheelchair, with her husband Brandy pushing) takes Brooke’s leash while the group works the agility and basic obedience course. The focus isn’t just physical handling—Stonnie addresses how life adversity (mobility changes, frustration, anxiety, anger, and fatigue) can affect a handler’s ability to influence their dog.

He emphasizes the need for empathy in dog training and proactive preparation so dogs are ready for the challenges owners may face down the road.

Throughout the lesson Stonnie continually praises both Regina and Brooke for their effort and progress. This is real-world work, not a classroom drill—exactly the kind of training that builds calm, reliable dogs and confident handlers.

If you’re dealing with mobility changes, planning ahead for the future, or simply want a better understanding of how life events impact dog training, this session is for you.

We hope you guys enjoy!
