I’ve never been a fast hiker. #hiking

Description

Despite all of the hiking and backpacking I’ve done, I usually find myself as the caboose of my group. I get out of breath easily, and hey, I like to enjoy the view.

I used to apologize to my friends. “Sorry, I’m slow. Not sure what’s wrong with me today.” 🤪 Then naturally they would reply, “oh, it’s ok.”

I mean what else are they going to say…”yea you’re slow AF, can you pick up the pace?” 😂

Then one day I decided to change my tune. Instead of criticizing myself and apologizing for being slow, I started thanking my friends for waiting.

“Hey, thanks for being so patient! I really appreciate it.”

See how different that feels? Now I’m giving my friends a complement, making them feel good, instead of knocking myself.

This small tweak changes the whole group dynamic.

Try it on your next adventure, and I promise you’ll never go back to your old apologetic ways.

Can you relate to this?
