It’s not too late to experience Alta’s wildflowers this summer. Albion Basin is the most famous place to see them, but if you’re willing to hike further up the mountain, you can get away from the crowds and see the blooms later in the summer.
We hiked to the very top last week and the wildflowers were still amazing. We hiked from Albion, up and over to the top of Sugarloaf and down the Collins side (although I’d recommended the opposite direction if you don’t like steep downhills)
A couple tips:
✅ Make sure to Leave No Trace. Don’t pick or trample the wildflowers, stay on the trail, and obey all the signage
✅There isn’t a lot of shade up there, so wear sun protection and bring lots of water.
✅ You can park for free at the Wildcat or Albion Basin lot or you can drive up the summer road for $12.
✅ Weekends and evenings after work for sunset are busy, and the line gets backed up at the toll booth! Go in the morning (or mid-week) if you can.
✅ No pets area allowed up here due to watershed regulations
🪻Where are the prettiest wildflowers you’ve seen this summer? Have you been up to Alta, Utah yet?
