Step inside my new expedition-style truck camper in this 10-minute walk through! I’ve been living full-time in this Rossmönster Baja Trail since December 2024, and I’m excited to finally share my honest review after logging real miles - including a 3-month adventure in Baja California and a road trip across the U.S.
MY BACKSTORY
I've been doing van life since 2016, and I've lived in three different Sprinter Vans over the years with completely different layouts giving me a chance to test out what works and what doesn't. The Sprinter was perfect for that chapter of life, but in 2023 I had a baby. I was determined to continue van life, but after a short stint on the road, I realized I needed a different setup. With two adults, a toddler, two dogs, and new needs on the road, I wanted a platform that offered more functional living space without sacrificing off-road capability.
That led me to the hard-sided pop-top truck camper built by Rossmönster called the Baja Trail. After seeing it in person at the Overland Expo, I was sold. My new tiny home on wheels seats 4 and sleeps 4 and is designed for comfort, self-sufficiency, and rugged adventure.

In this video, I give you do a full walk through of my truck camper — the Rossmönster Baja Trail (LX Floor Plan), mounted on a Ford F-350 Super Duty with a 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel engine.
One of the standout features is the hard-sided pop-top. With the push of a button, the roof lifts up 16 inches to create 6'6" feet of interior standing space. The upper walls are solid (not soft fabric), which makes the camper quieter, more insulated, and better suited for four-season use. It also helps the rig stay low-profile and aerodynamic when driving.
Another thing that is really unique is the pass-through between the truck cab and camper. This adds an extra layer of convenience, as well as safety. It allows us (and the dogs) to move between the front seats and the living area without stepping outside. I also use it to move gear between the camper and the truck cab. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in everyday use.
Here are some other features my truck camper build:
-A full indoor bathroom with a spacious shower and CompoCloset toilet
-Queen-sized bed + a convertible dinette for extra sleeping space
-40 gallons of fresh water
-1,000 amp hours of lithium batteries with 600 watts of solar and alternator charging
-Air conditioning and heat for all-season comfort
-Thoughtful storage throughout the camper
-A functional kitchen with a deep sink, induction cooktop, and fridge
-Carli Pintop suspension system with 37" BFG K02 tires
-Fiama Awning
-Max Traxx flip-up table
-Custom storage boxes on the back for bigger gear
