October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this painting has a special meaning behind it.
Breast cancer has personally touched my family, so for Pinktober I wanted to use my art and my platform to bring a little more awareness to something that affects so many people.
For this painting, I worked entirely in shades of pink and created winding ribbon shapes throughout the design. I didn’t want the ribbons to be completely obvious. Instead, I wanted them to almost be hidden within the painting as a symbol of caring, warmth, and strength.
I also made a limited edition of my art stands in pink for Pinktober. I only made 80 sets, and I will be donating 25% of the proceeds from the pink stands to a breast cancer organization.
I am still deciding which organization I would like to support, so if there is one that has personally helped you or your family, please let me know in the comments. I may choose one organization or divide the donation among a few.
And most importantly, please take care of yourself. Talk with your healthcare provider about the screening and preventative care that are appropriate for you, and if something does not seem right, get it checked.
