RULES:
The object of the game is to be the first to reach 10 or more points or the first to have 3 Whatever cards in your row. Set aside the 6 Bid cards, then shuffle the other cards into a facedown deck. Give each player 6 tokens of the same color and a matching bid card, which is placed color side up. Return any unused to the box. Pick a player to go first, then play proceeds clockwise.
On your turn, you are the auctioneer and secretly draw 1 card from the top of the deck. If someone else sees the drawn card, discard it and draw again. Next, you start the auction by either bidding or passing. To bid, move a number of your bid tokens, which you’re willing to pay if you win, to the center of the table, saying the total out loud. Proceeding clockwise, players take turns bidding or passing. Every bid must be higher than the current highest bid. You cannot bid more tokens than you actually have.
Once you pass on a bid, you may no longer bid that round; return any tokens you bid this round, if any, and flip your bid card over, indicating you are out. Bidding continues until there is only 1 player left, who pays the auctioneer their bid price. If the auctioneer wins the bid, then they pay the middle of the table instead. If no one bids and everyone passes, then the Auctioneer gets the card for free. After paying, the winning player places the card faceup in a line in front of them, from left to right, forming their Row. All cards in your row must be visible at all times.
Cards in your row are calculated from left to right—only once your grand total is 10 or above do you win. You are allowed to have a negative number. There are Special cards that have the following effect when you get them:
• Whatever: discard every card in your row except for this card and any other Whatever cards. Getting 3 instantly wins you the game.
• Trash: discards itself and the card to its immediate left.
• Copy: this card becomes the card to its immediate left. It may become another copy’s copy.
• Upset: convert the total of all cards to the left of it from positive to negative, or vice versa.
Whenever Trash, Copy, or Upset is the first card in your row, move the next available point card to the right of it, into the left most position, allowing special cards to immediately take effect.
After the auction ends, the auctioneer may choose to discard 1 point card from anywhere in their row, if they want. If they discard a negative point card, then they must pay tokens equal to that card’s value to the middle of the table. If they discard a positive point card, then they must take tokens from the middle instead; however, there must be enough tokens to take in order to exchange the positive card. When exchanging cards, remember that an upset card only changes the total value for all the cards to the left of it.
In the unlikely event that all the tokens are in the middle or with one player, evenly redistribute them back out. The first player to reach 10 or more points or to get 3 Whatever cards in their row, wins!
