RULES: The object of the game is to be the first team to collect at least 1 card from each category. Get a phone and headphones. Split into two teams. Place each category deck in the middle of the table. Pick a team to go first. They roll the die to determine the category. Each category has 2 options to pick from, along with special rules. The categories are:
Wordsmith. One person on your team draws the card and says one prompt word aloud. They then must sing part of a song that contains that word. Then the other team must do the same but with a different song, followed by your team. Go back and forth until one team repeats a song or they take longer than 15 seconds to come up with an answer. That team loses and the other team wins the card.
Finish the Lyrics. The opposing team draws the card and scans one of the QR codes. They play the song aloud for 10 seconds, then they stop and your team must finish the lyrics. If you succeed, your team keeps the card. If not, the card is discarded.
Hum that jam. One person on your team draws the card and picks a song to hum. They can use the QR code and headphones to get a reminder if they need. Your team has 30 seconds to guess the title of the song or the artist. If you succeed, you collect the card.
Step up. One person on your team draws the card and picks a song to act out without using any noise. They can use the QR code and headphones to get a reminder. Your team has 30 seconds to guess the name of the song. Once they get it correct, the team must start singing the song as the player continues miming. Then you collect the card.
Poetry Slam. The opposing team draws the card and picks an option. They recite the lyrics out load as if they were a poem. Singing is not allowed. Your team has 30 seconds to guess the title of the song or the artist. If you succeed, you collect the card.
Battle of the Bands. One person on your team draws the card and picks a topic. They must sing a song or name an artist that is related to that topic. Then the other team has to reply with singing a different song or saying a different artist about the same topic; followed by your team. Go back and forth until one team repeats a song or they take longer than 15 seconds to come up with an answer. That team loses and the other team wins the card.
After a category card resolves, your team’s turn ends and the other team goes. If the die shows a category for which you already have collected more than one card, you can discard one of your cards to roll again. The first team to collect at least one of each category card wins and sings the winner card, while the losers sing the loser card.
