About this video: Checking your CPU temperature in Windows 11 can help you determine whether your processor is running too hot. In this video, we show you how to download, install, and use HWMonitor to see your current CPU temperature, individual core temperatures, and other hardware information.
First things first, you will need to download HWMonitor. There is a link in the description above, or you can search for the HWMonitor download page. The website has several ads and unrelated download buttons, so make sure you select “Setup English” under the Versions section. On the next page, click the correct Download button and verify that the file you are saving is the HWMonitor installer with a version number.
Once the download is complete, open your Downloads folder and double-click the HWMonitor installer. From there, follow the installation process by clicking Next, choosing your installation options, and clicking Install. After HWMonitor finishes installing, click Finish and open the program. A Readme file may also appear, but you can close it after reviewing the information if you want.
Inside HWMonitor, locate your processor and expand its temperature readings. You will see the current CPU temperature along with minimum and maximum values recorded while the program has been open. HWMonitor can also display the temperature of each individual CPU core, allowing you to see whether one core is running hotter than the others. The general CPU reading is usually the quickest way to check your overall processor temperature.
You can also use HWMonitor to view additional information about your computer, including voltages, fan speeds, power usage, and other hardware temperatures. However, if you only want to check your CPU temperature on Windows 11, the processor temperature section gives you the information you need.
