Description
Two parks in Snohomish County are partially or fully closed because of concerns about falling trees.
At Paradise Valley Conservation Area near Woodinville, hundreds of Douglas fir trees across 64 acres are affected by laminated root rot, a native fungal disease that weakens trees and increases the risk of falling.
County officials say removing the diseased trees and replanting native vegetation could take about 18 months, with the work also intended to improve forest health and wildfire resilience.
Southwest County Park near Edmonds is also fully closed because of aging and dying red alder trees, with no reopening date announced as officials evaluate possible solutions.
