The UK Banned These Vapes… So I Harvested The Batteries Inside

Vortecks Video 2 months ago

Description

This video was filmed in the UK before the disposable vape ban, and looking back now, it feels even more relevant.

Disposable vapes were sold as throwaway products, but inside all of them is a rechargeable lithium cell. In this video, I strip down a batch of disposable vape pods and carefully harvest the cells for possible future use in small 3S battery packs for low-power solar lights and similar projects.

This is not a battery build video.
This is only the harvesting stage: opening the pods, removing the cells, cleaning them up, dressing the ends, and getting them ready for testing. The actual battery build will come in a future video.

Lithium cells can be dangerous if they are shorted, punctured, crushed, overcharged, overheated, or reused incorrectly. This video is for interest and awareness only. Do not copy this unless you fully understand lithium battery safety, testing, charging, protection circuits, and safe disposal.

It is shocking how much usable lithium battery material has been thrown away inside “disposable” products.

Thanks for watching,
