Description
A motorcycle dash cam you can install once and forget about. I fitted the CHIGEE XR-1 to my Honda ADV350 and tested it properly — installation, front and rear recording, daytime and nighttime footage, the app, GPS remote and parking protection.
Unlike an action camera that needs charging, mounting and remembering to switch on, the XR-1 is permanently installed on the motorcycle. Turn the ignition on and it starts recording automatically. The main unit can be hidden away, while separate front and rear cameras continuously record what's happening around the bike.
In this review I install the complete CHIGEE XR-1 system on my Honda ADV350, including the wiring and cameras, before taking it out and using it in real-world riding conditions.
I look at the actual recording quality during the day and at night, the 30/60fps settings, front and rear live view, the CHIGEE GO app, video download performance, the GPS handlebar remote and the impact/parking recording function.
The XR-1 isn't a GoPro and I don't pretend that the footage is GoPro quality. That's not really the point of this system. What interested me was whether I could install it on the bike, forget about it, and know that both ends of the motorcycle were being recorded whenever I ride.
And that's exactly what I wanted to find out.
