Description
I love my Honda ADV350 — but living with it every day over 2 years has shown me a few things Honda could definitely have done better. So today, I'm fixing them.
In this video I'm fitting and modifying 5 practical upgrades to my ADV350, all aimed at solving genuine annoyances I've discovered from actually riding and owning the bike here in Thailand.
These aren't expensive cosmetic accessories fitted just because they look pretty. Most of them have a very specific job to do.
My original (full) crash bars didn't protect the bike as well as I'd hoped when I dropped it, the standard footboards don't work particularly nicely with crash-bar mounting bolts, there's nowhere comfortable to stretch my legs on a long ride, the rear mudguard still throws muck everywhere, and sitting at long traffic lights when you're on an incline constantly holding the brake gets old very quickly.
So today we're fitting:
• Shorter crash bars – after discovering that the larger ones could actually bend into the bodywork when the bike was dropped.
• Highway / long-distance foot pegs – giving me somewhere to properly stretch my legs on longer journeys.
• Aluminium footplates – partly because the crash-bar mounting hardware protrudes through the standard rubber footrests and becomes annoying under your feet.
• An extended rear mudguard – *** I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE ONE I FITTED, IT WARPS IN THE HEAT *** The one I originally fitted is stable in the heat.
• A brake / parking lock – so I can sit at traffic lights without having to permanently hold one of the brake levers.
As usual, not everything goes perfectly. Some parts fit straight out of the box, some need modifying, and one or two ideas need a little more work before I'm completely happy with them.
But by the end, the ADV350 is much closer to how I think Honda should have made it in the first place.
I also show some of the other modifications I've already made to the bike, including the larger touring screen, lowered suspension, waterproof phone charging setup and luggage rack — plus there's another major cosmetic modification coming very soon:
I'm finally getting rid of that enormous rear number-plate hanger with a proper tail tidy.
That one deserves a video of its own because it's bound to go wrong. 😁
PARTS USED IN THIS VIDEO ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON PATREON - I've got to give them something for their kind support.
If you own an ADV350, let me know in the comments:
What's the one thing YOU would change about it?
And if you've already fitted any of these modifications, I'd genuinely like to know whether they've worked for you long-term.
If you enjoyed the video, please Like, Subscribe and Share — there are plenty more ADV350 modifications, engineering projects, electronics, motorcycles and other questionable ideas coming to Vortecks. 😁
