The goal isn't less stress on your arm

Driveline Baseball Review 10 days ago

Description

Throwing hard puts stress on your elbow and shoulder. There's no way around that.

So the goal isn't to minimize stress. It's to get as much velo as you can for the stress you're putting on your arm.

When we evaluate an arm action with motion capture, we look at the individual biomech components to see how effectively it’s creating velo, but to see how efficiently it’s doing so, we look at two things:

- How much energy the delivery sends to the shoulder vs. how much actually makes it into the baseball
- How much energy transfers through the elbow vs. the peak torque it takes to get there

An efficient arm action sends a ton of energy into the ball at a relatively low torque cost.

Part of our full breakdown on what actually adds velo, built on 1,000+ pitcher retests.
