For decades, Argentinosaurus, a titanic sauropod from the Late Cretaceous period, held the title as the largest known dinosaur.
With size estimates ranging from thirty to thirty five meters, or ninety eight to one hundred and fifteen feet in length and weighing up to eighty tonnes, its massive size made it a symbol of prehistoric gigantism.
However, recent studies and re-evaluations of fossil evidence have suggested that there may have been even larger sauropods—Supersaurus and Maraapunisaurus.
