Description
Charlie Brown’s B-17 “Ye Olde Pub” was badly damaged during the Bremen raid in December 1943. This documentary follows Brown’s first combat mission as aircraft commander, the wounded crew’s struggle to survive inside a crippled bomber, and German fighter pilot Franz Stigler’s decision not to shoot the aircraft down.
The flight was not a simple story of mercy. It was a survival ordeal shaped by failing systems, injured men, uncertain navigation, freezing altitude, and the long route back toward Britain. Stigler’s choice did not erase the brutality of the air war, but it gave Brown and his crew a chance to keep flying. Decades later, their reunion turned a wartime mystery into a shared memory between former enemies.
