Description
USS Nevada was one of the battleships caught in the attack on Pearl Harbor, but her story took a dangerous turn when her crew got the damaged ship underway. Hit by a torpedo and later damaged by bombs, Nevada became the only battleship to move during the attack. Her run through the harbor created a new crisis: if she sank in the channel, she could block Pearl Harbor’s route to the sea.
This documentary follows Nevada’s struggle from Battleship Row to Hospital Point, where the ship was deliberately beached to prevent a worse disaster. It is a story of damage control, command pressure, fire, flooding, and a crew trying to keep one wounded battleship from turning Pearl Harbor into a trap. Nevada survived the attack, was salvaged and repaired, and later returned to wartime service in both the Atlantic and Pacific.
