Taxing My Electric Scooter in Thailand Was a NIGHTMARE!

Vortecks Guide 21 days ago

Description

In this video I try to renew the Por Ror Bor / compulsory insurance and road tax for my two motorcycles here in Thailand — my Honda ADV and my electric scooter. I need to add that because the e-scooter wasn't registered in Surin and no one else has one, the office we ended up visiting was the 'new model' registration office so they could add it to the system.
Next year, it will be the normal process.

The Honda ADV should have been simple enough, but the electric scooter turned into a proper Thai paperwork adventure. We went from the licence and tax centre, to another tax place, to Lotus, to a random motorcycle dealer, to a Deco electric scooter dealer, then phone calls to Bangkok, then finally a hidden electric vehicle registration office that nobody seemed to know about.

By the end of it, we had visited around seven different places just to renew the yearly tax and compulsory insurance on an electric scooter.

This isn’t meant to be an official guide. It’s just my real experience trying to get Por Ror Bor and road tax sorted in Thailand as a foreigner — with Bud doing most of the translating and me getting more confused by the minute.

If you are thinking about buying an electric motorcycle or electric scooter in Thailand, this video might be worth watching first.
