Suspense – “A Cask of Amontillado”:
“A Cask of Amontillado” originally aired on October 11, 1949, and stars Bela Lugosi as General Fortunato and Romney Brent as Count Montresor. This adaptation reimagines Edgar Allan Poe's classic tale during World War II in Nazi-occupied Italy.
Count Montresor has watched in horror as his former stable boy, Fortunato, has risen to power as a ruthless Nazi general. In his quest for power, Fortunato has murdered the Count's sister, stolen his wife, and now intends to eliminate Montresor as well. Realizing he has little chance of escaping the General's vengeance, the Count devises an elaborate plan for revenge.
Using Fortunato's pride and his appreciation for rare wines, Montresor lures him deep into the ancient catacombs beneath his family estate with the promise of sampling a priceless cask of Amontillado. As they descend farther underground, the General remains unaware that every step brings him closer to a carefully prepared trap.

Synopsis:
After serving fifteen years in prison, brilliant criminal mastermind Alonzo Pace Graham (Peter Lorre) is released with a single goal—to exact revenge on Dr. Carl Hyatt (Sebastian Cabot), the criminologist whose testimony helped put him behind bars. Rather than seeking simple murder, Graham devises an elaborate and ingenious scheme designed to destroy Hyatt's reputation and implicate him in a murder that never actually occurred.
As Hyatt becomes trapped in Graham's intricate web of deception, Don Corey (Anthony George) and Jed Sills (Doug McClure) of Checkmate, Inc. race to unravel the plot before their friend is condemned by circumstantial evidence and a masterfully orchestrated illusion. The battle becomes one of intellect rather than violence, with each man attempting to anticipate the other's next move
