When a mysterious glowing sphere descends into a remote California canyon, military authorities and scientists rush to investigate. The strange object appears impervious to every test, and tensions quickly arise between those who see it as a potential weapon and those who believe it may represent something far more profound.
Soon, an enigmatic visitor known as the Cosmic Man emerges from the sphere. Possessing extraordinary abilities and a calm, otherworldly demeanor, he seeks to deliver a message of peace and understanding to humanity. While physicist Dr. Karl Sorenson believes the visitor's intentions are benevolent, military leaders become increasingly determined to control or exploit the alien's advanced knowledge.
As the confrontation escalates, the Cosmic Man demonstrates powers beyond human comprehension and forms a touching bond with a young disabled boy. The visitor's presence forces those around him to confront questions about war, fear, and mankind's readiness to join a larger community of intelligent life in the universe. The film combines classic 1950s flying-saucer suspense with a thoughtful message of hope, making it reminiscent of other peaceful-contact science fiction films of the era.

Synopsis:
Expectant mother Laura Perkins (Peggy Ann Garner) begins experiencing a terrifying recurring vision during the final months of her pregnancy. Night after night, at exactly 12:17 a.m., she awakens with the overwhelming sensation that a small airplane has crashed directly into her home. The vivid experience is so realistic that she becomes convinced it is more than just a nightmare.
As the visions continue, Laura discovers that her pregnancy seems to have awakened unusual psychic abilities. Disturbing flashes of future events begin intruding into her daily life, leaving her fearful that the plane crash she keeps witnessing may actually occur. Despite skepticism from those around her, she becomes determined to understand the meaning of the warning and protect her unborn child from the disaster she believes is coming.
The episode builds suspense around the question of whether Laura is suffering from anxiety and imagination—or experiencing a genuine premonition of a tragedy that has yet to happen. As midnight approaches, the line between fear and foresight grows increasingly thin.
