Description

Key Question: When living within people speaking another language, can ethnic minorities use their own language and to which extent? Where is the balance? How to achieve harmony?

Why hot topic and why I diverted in my Channel to this one?
I asked many Western people in several countries, including those who were active for years in areas of peace/war and conflict resolution (many were Quakers - Religious Society…).
Did UKR government/ruling people do anything wrong in relation to Russia? Or even slightly wrong? What it was? Why Russians could be angry in relations to UKR government?
Their answers: corruption, violations in recruitment, … Sorry, much worse…

Beauty: You will be an expert in 20-30 min, possibly more than peace-maker US Pr. D. Trump (who claimed that one cannot blame only Russia and it is more complex);
Rock-solid evidence - OFFICIAL UKR LAW from 2019 - No rumours, speculations, etc.

Also, before we begin: UKR was (prior Crimea invasion) a multinational, multicultural, multilingual country.

- What is UKR 2019 Language Law?
Schools, daycare, hospitals and clinics, colleges, universities, police, etc.
Printing media (street stands and bookshops - 50%)
TV and radio stations: 90 to 75%
Private businesses (restaurants, haircut places, barbers and beauty salons, grocery shops, bakeries, butchers, etc.) - 200 euro fine
From UkrInform, The National News Agency of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Українське національне інформаційне агентство), or Ukrinform (Ukrainian:) Укрінформ), is a state information and news agency, and international broadcaster of Ukraine.

UKR-multilingual country: 17% Russian natives or over 8 million -, Hungarians (150,000 + over 99% in some regions), Romanians (150,000), Polish and German villages…

EU practices:
How minorities preserve or maintain their cultures - Many learn from life:
Start with Finland - 5%, nearly 300,000 Swedes -. Why? A big neighbour vs. just respect to local minorities; + Sámi, Karelian, Finnish Kalo... WIKI .
Belgium: common misconception even for Europeans - two languages: French and Dutch. No, also German - How many Germans? - 80,000, 0.7%; - Why not punish Germans? Desire to live in peace? Respect?
Switzerland: 3 languages… Again no, Romansh: 60,000 or 0.5% (12 million SUI total) - no big neighbor, Both details: 60,000 and see the bottom - 4 official and national languages.

But USSR and USA - one language? What about natives?

Nazi policies on occupied lands:
West vs east; newspapers, radio, schools, official … - An article attached.
France, Poland, and Ukraine in more details.

The ultimate goal (vision of the future) in relation to a different culture: convert them into something different vs. respect/care/allow to exist/function/develop.

Mental Exercises:
1. Donetsk - British origins (English Colony) - now 2019 Law…
How would the UK government react?
2. Over 8 million of Russians. Assume over 8 million of Germans, …
3. Imagine life of Hungarians during last centuries: lived under Lenin, Stalin, WW2 Nazi, now UKR nationalists… 1/3 to 1/2 destroyed see - Who made the strongest impact? Location, positions in politics, …

New Language Requirement Raises Concerns in Ukraine
The Law Needs Safeguards to Protect Minorities’ Language Rights
Russian media - UKR Neo-nazi…

Mitigating factors:
Ukrainian was No. 1 secondary language in the USSR… (15-18%) - USSR nations**
Over 50% of Ukrainian speakers became Russian speakers 1990s Russian**
After USSR collapse, the table reversed (15-18%); join the EU - reject Russia?
Other videos - mentioned Lithuania (or Estonia)…

That rises other topics:
Related topic: USSR policies. Why USSR had only one language? Huge topic? Suppression of Ukrainian? This Channel - 90% Buteyko. Persecutions? Was he a victim? - Myself a double victim? Russification?
Language imperialism: How and why Russian language became common in Ukraine?
Any country a victim of language imperialism? - Ireland… Effects of?

Simple reality - UKR leaders wanted and want to make existing Russians (+ others) to convert to UKR… Pay back for the past?

Russia since 1990s: wanted to join the EU; Putin asked Clinton to join NATO… - all rejected. Fear, but no specific causes of rejections - Russophobia. The related topic - origins of the West - exact specific people who triggered/created roaring 20s and the West - that changed the world but only until the 1990s.

National security mentioned in the 2019 Law multiple times…. from Kiev agents? My trips, but speculations, not rock solid facts…

Also, rules for military servicemen - Germans Nazi had to learn Danish to give orders to Danish soldiers.

Key conclusion: From 1990s, Western countries no longer provide true information to their people about events in the world and are no longer spiritual leaders of the world.
