How to build a 45L Foil Board: V3 Building a Semi-Hollow EPS Blank (Video two)

Part 2 of the V3 foil board build! Today we are building the blank, and attempting something new, chambering of the foam to make it semi hollow. I’m using a block of EPS foam and two full-length Cedar stringers to give this board the stiffness it needs for Foil Assist and Parawinging. But to keep the weight as low as possible, I’ve decided to chamber out the foam in the board and drilling into the stringers —making it semi-hollow before we glue everything together.

The chambers are to save weight without sacrificing the structural integrity of the cedar stringers and board stiffness. Once the blank is prepped, its glued using epoxy.

Today we also cover the drawing of the outline template.

In this Episode:

Stringer Prep: Machine and Cutting the twin Cedar stringers.
Hot wire the foam core
Drawing the Template: Transferring the V3 plans onto the physical blank.
Chambering the EPS: My method for removing foam weight while keeping the board strong.
The Glue Up: Using epoxy ensuring a perfect bond between the foam and cedar.
